Design Notes
Why this works for Secondary Systems:
- Phase 1: Multiple production zones (4 locations, requires surveying venue)
- Simple counting skill (accessible to kids 8+)
- Requires tracking multiple production outputs (note-taking helpful)
- Deduction step (sorting lowest to highest output)
- Phase 2: Reverse-order sequencing (cognitive challenge beyond simple memory)
- Progressive difficulty (2 → 3 → 4 items to reverse)
- Tests working memory + mental manipulation
- Age-appropriate for 8-12 year olds (reversing 2-4 items is challenging but achievable)
- 13 total button presses - Longer engagement with varied skill requirements
Target Audience: Older children (ages 8-12) and families
Estimated Time: 8-12 minutes
- Phase 1: 5-8 minutes (visiting 4 rooms, counting, sorting)
- Phase 2: 3-4 minutes (watching sequences, reversing, repeating)
Room Infrastructure Required:
- Great Hall: 7 red wrapped present decorations (distinct, countable)
- Post Office: 3 green wrapped present decorations
- Santa Tracking Room: 5 silver wrapped present decorations
- Elf Recreation Room: 9 yellow wrapped present decorations
Notes:
- Presents should be clearly wrapped and visible (not hidden)
- Should be distinct enough to count accurately
- Part of general Christmas room decor (framed as "production output" not game-specific props)
- If actual counts need adjustment for room design, maintain the relative order (Green < Silver < Red < Yellow)
